The history of Nice Côte d’Azur airport ✈️
The Nice Côte d’Azur airport was created in 1902 by aviation pioneer Captain Ferber, who chose a rocky beach to test his first flying machines. The site officially became an airport after a major airshow in 1910, which attracted 3,000 curious onlookers.
Today, Nice Côte d’Azur airport is the 3rd largest in France, after Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle and Paris-Orly, and handles both commercial aircraft and private jets. It is even the only French airport outside Paris to welcome the A380 in scheduled flights with Emirates. With two runways and three terminals, it is managed by Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, which also oversees the Cannes-Mandelieu and Saint-Tropez airports.
