Segway Gyropod from Mobilboard – Nice

Fun, ecological… On a gyropod segway, I rediscovered the most beautiful sites in Nice in a different way and without getting tired!

Getting started

For some time, I wanted to try this activity but I was a little apprehensive about the mode of transport, the Segway! So, I first booked the 30-minute “Initiation” and then the 2-hour “Nice Grand Tour”… Equipped with my flat-heeled sandals, I am ready for a new experience…

The Mobilboard agency is located in rue Halévy in Nice, two minutes from the famous Promenade des Anglais. It is possible to park in the many car parks in the area but you can also come without a car as the area is very well served by public transport (bus, tram…).

I was greeted by a team of very smiley young people to fill in an information sheet.

After the guide’s instructions, I took the Segway I had been given to the Promenade des Anglais, the meeting place to begin my initiation. The group of tourists to which I was attached also followed an initiation to the functioning of the gyropod.

The instructor had all the participants try out the handling of the Gyropod individually.

What a nice surprise!!! It’s easy… It’s fun… My fears about the use of this machine faded and gave way to a desire to have fun while admiring the surrounding landscape.

With the Segway in hand, the Promenade des Anglais was even more beautiful as we got higher up; we went as far as Rauba Capeu where the #ILOVENICE sculpture is installed; a photo stop was necessary to immortalise this unique moment; the Baie des Anges, sunny, radiant and luminous, was offered to us!

The discovery tour

Being now almost a “Pro” at driving the Segway, I went on a tour of Nice while enjoying the commentary on Nice’s heritage.

During the tour, the guide comments on the sites and monuments we encounter and offers photo stops.

The proposed 2-hour tour takes in the Promenade des Anglais, Cours Saleya, Palais des Ducs de Savoie, Place du Palais de Justice, Vieux-Nice, Place Rossetti, Rue Droite, Ancien Sénat, Colline du château and back along the magnificent Promenade des Anglais!

The Gyropod being electric and not making any noise, this visit is very pleasant; moreover it allows us to have a better overall view. This machine is limited to 10 km/hour for the first hour of the “Nice Grand Tour”: during the second hour, the guide has the possibility of unbridling it; I was therefore able to reach 20 km/hour.

I also highly recommend the Segway! I wanted to see my city from another angle and I was not disappointed!
