Snowshoe hiking and a barbecue in the snow – Isola 2000

I have heard that the Isola 2000 ski resort offers an original and authentic après ski activity every Thursday at 5 p.m. throughout the season: a snowshoe hike followed by a barbecue in the snow.

My first reaction was: « what a funny idea!!! ».

But, curious by nature, I wanted to take advantage of the exceptional conditions currently in the resort to put on snowshoes with my colleagues.

Accompanied by Christian, an inexhaustible high mountain guide with anecdotes, the « grip » is immediate. Let’s discover the hidden path in the mountains wearing our snowshoes at dusk.

After a few minutes along the slopes to go up the snow front of the resort, our small group branches off to go on an adventure, tracing its own path through the powder snow freshly fallen the day before. Very quickly, we are alone in the middle of nature, with the feeling of being cut off from the world, in a silence that only the trickling of a small stream that we follow comes to disturb.

Wonderful … no doubt, I made the right choice!

Barbecue dans la neige !

The landscape is breathtaking, we feel like we are in Canada, we almost forgot the reward… the barbecue. And the magic happens: at the bend in the path, everything is ready to treat us with authentic local products by the fire at the foot of the hut where Momo (the resort’s host) was waiting for us by grilling perugines (spicy Nicoise sausages) and marshmallow brochettes!

So many emotions! We could have stayed there forever listening to the silence while feasting on the cow’s cheese from Isola and socca chips, but its time to leave.

Impossible to imagine not doing this snowshoe hiking / barbecue again with the children during our next visit to Isola 2000.
