For cycling enthusiasts, the “Auron-Nice Electrically Assisted Mountain Bike Itinerary” crosses 16 communes over 261 kilometres, in 7 stages, an average of 40 kms/day. It includes a passage over the Bonette, the highest road pass in Europe, and arrival on the Promenade des Anglais! This itinerary thus makes it possible to join the highest peaks of the Mercantour to the shores of the Côte d’Azur!

Land of major sporting events

In the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Area, sport has a prominent place in the year’s calendar of events.

Nice Côte d’Azur’s sporting dynamism is highlighted by the hosting of major competitions in many disciplines. For example, Nice Côte d’Azur hosted the Euro Masters Games in 2015, the Euro Football in 2016, the Euro Women’s Handball in 2018, the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the IronMan 70.3 World Championship and the AIDA Apnea World Championship in 2019, the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in 2021…

Nice has also hosted the semi-finals of the Rugby Top 14 and, 4 Rugby World Cup France 2023 matches as well as the men’s Ironman World Championships!
In 2024, Nice has hosted the finish of the Tour de France, as well as the football competitions of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the women’s version of the French Ironman Championships!

In addition, there are many sporting events throughout the year. For example, the finish of the Paris-Nice cycling race, the finish of the Tour de France à la Voile, the IronMan and IronMan 70.3, the Nice International Half-Marathon, the Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes Marathon, the XCO Mountain Bike World Cup, the Andros Trophy, the Hopman Cup, the Nice Côte d’Azur by UTMB®… and many others.
