Flowers and fragrances
At the end of the 19th century, Nice was even the world capital of flowers!
Although the culture is more modest nowadays, the love of flowers is still very much alive.
Discover flowers and fragrances in all their states!
The Cours Saleya Flower Market
A must for every visitor: the visit of the Old Nice and the flower market on the Cours Saleya! Your clients will be intoxicated by the sweet smells of spices and flowers that waft through the alleys of this market, classified as one of France’s exceptional markets.
Created in 1897, the Nice flower market today has dozens of stalls selling green plants, mixed bouquets, cut flowers and shipping services. With the hill of the Castle as a backdrop, this colourful market is one of the major tourist attractions of the old town of Nice, and should be a priority in all your programmes! Every morning except Mondays.
The Phoenix Floral Park
Opposite the Nice Côte d’Azur international airport, the Phoenix Floral Park offers some twenty themed gardens, a real “naturoscope” with scenography. Its large glass pyramid (one of the largest in the world) impresses with its plant diversity.
Discover the exuberance of the equatorial forest, the fascinating world of orchids, the southern African garden in the Natal desert, or, in a very humid environment, the tree ferns whose ancestors lived alongside the dinosaurs. And of course, there are plenty of colourful flowers!
The famous Flower Battles
Created in 1876, the Flower Battles were originally simple exchanges of flowers with the public. Today, they have become the poetic and elegant side of the Nice Carnival. They are also a showcase for local production.
During the 72 hours prior to the event, florists prick the fresh flowers onto the float structures. The costumes worn by the models are created in a temporary workshop dedicated to the Carnival. Costume designers from the world of entertainment give free rein to the imagination. A unique show in the world to be programmed in February!
Also noteworthy is the naval combat in bloom that takes place every year in Villefranche-sur-Mer during the Nice Carnival! A festive, authentic and free event that your customers will also enjoy!
Flowers in perfumery
The perfume manufacturing workshops in Eze-Village welcome individuals and groups to discover the secrets of fragrance production. Free guided tours of the Fragonard and Galimard factories are offered 7 days a week in several languages.
The visit ends in the salesrooms where all the products of the perfumeries are presented at the counters. Perfumes, toilet waters, soaps, candles, diffusers, but also cosmetics, shower gels and gift boxes… To give or to treat yourself!
Flowers in confectionery
Throughout the year, the Florian confectionery in the port district of Nice welcomes visitors from all over the world to discover how the specialities of the South of France are made. During free guided tours in 5 languages, your customers will be able to watch the best fruits and most beautiful flowers of the region being transformed into confectionery products.
From February to August, they will discover the work of the violet, then the Tango rose, jasmine and verbena transformed into delicious crystallised flowers or even flower preserves… for the pleasure of all gourmets. At the end of the visit, a free tasting of the specialities will be offered. They will also have access to the shop with products to buy at factory prices.
