Anecdote 💡

In 1978 in Hawaï, the famous “IRONMAN” race was born. The competition was born of a debate between naval commander John Collins and his wife Judy. They debated whether a runner, cyclist or swimmer was the toughest athlete. At the end of the debate, they propose a challenge to fifteen or so men who will attempt to take up the challenge. The challenge consists in whoever wins a race combining the three disciplines, who will then be called the “Iron Man”.

The result: on February 18, 1978, twelve men finished the race won by Gordon!
