It’s official: Nice Côte d’Azur is hosting the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games!

The 2030 Olympic Winter Games will be held from February 1 to 17, 2030. The Paralympic Winter Games are scheduled to follow from March 1 to 10, 2030. The French Alps, already renowned for their spectacular scenery, are set to vibrate under the international spotlight! The French Alps project for the 2030 Winter Olympics is organized around four clusters: Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Briançonnais and Nice.

Nice will be at the heart of the Games, hosting all the events in the “Ice” division. The Allianz Riviera will be transformed into a veritable temple of ice hockey, equipped with two rinks and seating over 30,000. The Palais Nikaia will host the curling events. A new 5,000-seat rink will host figure skating and short-track. Nice will be the scene of 75 field hockey matches, 150 curling matches, 16 figure skating sessions and 9 short-track events. This concentration of ice events will make Nice a center of excellence for winter sports, enhancing its tourist and sporting appeal.

The closing ceremony could be held on the Promenade des Anglais, offering a memorable finale with the Baie des Anges and the Mediterranean as a backdrop. Beyond the competitions, these Games will leave a legacy for Nice. A 1,500-bed Olympic Village will become student and social housing after the Games, meeting the needs of the local community. The new ice rink will remain a permanent fixture, contributing to the city’s sporting and economic development.
