Explore Marie with the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau
Marie, whose name first appears in 1066, is a medieval hilltop village that has retained all its authenticity.
In the Tinée Valley, it’s a holiday destination with a focus on nature. A visit here offers a panoramic view of more than 180 degrees over the valley from Mont Vial to the Haute Tinée.

Heritage
Saint-Pons Church
Its sloping ground and misaligned axis suggest that it dates back at least to the 14th century. It houses the village’s masterpiece: a statue of the Virgin sculpted in Genoa, transported by boat to Nice and then brought to the village on men’s backs in 1777.
