Perched like an eagle’s nest in a superb mountain setting, the village of La Roquette-sur-Var overlooks a vast panorama of the sea and the peaks of the Mercantour Park. As well as its picturesque lanes, fountains and wash-house, the village has preserved vestiges of its past. The ruins of Castel-Viel bear witness to occupation dating back to Roman and medieval times. In the square, a game of pétanque gives visitors an idea of the friendly atmosphere that reigns in La Roquette-sur-Var.
