Nice Côte d’Azur, a pet-friendly destination
Because your pets are entitled to a change of scenery, take them with you on a “woof woof” holiday! In Nice Côte d’Azur, our four-legged friends are welcome. And for those who love to bask in the sun, we can say that they will be well looked after. For the second consecutive year, the magazine 30 Millions d’Amis has elected Nice the 1st city in France where it is good to live with your dog. Between the sea and the mountains, in the city or in the middle of nature, enjoy an unforgettable stay with your dog. On site, everything is done so that he can enjoy his holidays like you.
Created and certified by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau, our Pet Friendly label recognises restaurants, accommodation and activities in the city where your four-legged friend will be welcome.
Take your dog on spectacular hiking trails in the hinterland for an immersion in the heart of the vegetation to discover the fauna and flora of the destination. On the coast, nature parks, playgrounds and canisites are accessible right in the city centre. Visit Nice, Cagnes sur Mer, Eze and other seaside towns with your faithful companion who can now follow you everywhere. Enjoy your walk to the full with, on the way, dispensers for poop bags but also running water points. This way, he can stay hydrated while enjoying the Côte d’Azur sun.
Enjoy the special beaches for dogs in Nice Côte d’Azur
Would you believe that there are also beaches specially for dogs? Well, its true! A Nice, capitale de la Côte d’Azur, vous pouvez emmener vos toutous se rafraîchir dans la mer méditerranée. In Nice, capital of the Côte d’Azur, you can take your pooches to cool off in the Mediterranean Sea. In 2008, a first beach in the west of the city allowed masters and their faithful companions to swim freely. In 2021, opposite the Lenval hospital a second beach for dogs opened. It is separated from the others by 2 totem poles with sculptures of Totor, the canine mascot. Did you know that? Just like Mado la Niçoise or Brice de Nice, dogs also have their own local star!
Created by the artist Stéphane Bolongaro, who was inspired by his mother’s Jack Russel, Totor is a mischievous dog who imitates the positions of a human being to perfection. He became famous in 2015 after a huge 3-metre high work in his likeness appeared in the middle of the Promenade du Paillon in Nice. Since then, he has been showing off all over the city. He waits for his train at Nice Ville station, he entertains children in a superhero costume at Lenval hospital, he cycled during the 2020 Tour de France. Now he’s watching over the new dog beach in his cute lifeguard costume.
