Nice Côte d’Azur on a short circuit

Nice Côte d’Azur, short-circuit cuisine

With almost 300 days of sunshine a year and a particularly mild climate in winter, many producers have chosen Nice Côte d’Azur to produce – often organically – everything you need to enjoy a delicious meal. Come meet them and enjoy their delicious products! To do so, visit their holdings or the many markets in the area. Markets not to be missed include the lively Cours Saleya, the fruit and vegetable market on Place de la Libération or the fish market on Place Saint-François.

There’s also a whole range of committed restaurants where you can savour local produce and enjoy an eco-responsible journey in Nice Côte d’Azur!

2 PDOs in the region

Stretching from the coast to the peaks of the Mercantour, Nice Côte d’Azur boasts 2 PDO:

  • PDO Olives de Nice: the ‘caillette’ is the local variety covered by this PDO. It is an essential ingredient in Nice cuisine and is often made into olive oil and paste. During your stay, visit one of the olive oil mills still in operation and learn more about the process of making Nice olive oil.
  • Bellet PDO wines: the vines here benefit from an exceptional location on the hills of Nice. As a result, the rosé, white and red wines produced here are among the best in the south of France. Take a stroll through the hills of Nice and be amazed by the many vineyards on offer. Visit the cellars of the splendid Château de Crémat, or opt for a tasting at the peaceful Domaine de la Source. Meet passionate winegrowers and discover sometimes surprising production methods, such as wine aged in bottles in the sun at the Domaine des Hautes Collines in Saint-Jeannet.
