Starmania is a cyberpunk rock opera by Michel Berger, with libretto by Luc Plamondon.
Premiered on April 10, 1979 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, the work has gone on to become one of the most widely performed shows and most famous arias in the French-language repertoire, with successive productions and recordings.
Performed at various venues around the world, it has been the subject of numerous adaptations in both English and French. The original 1978 studio album sold over 2.2 million copies in France alone, making it the seventh best-selling album in the country1. Starmania was one of the very first French-language rock operas to be entirely sung!
