Portraits of Nina
Concert
21 November 2024
Thursday 21 November 2024.
Nina Simone, an African-American icon and committed artist, neo griot, created a bridge between an assumed Africanness and her first love... J.-S. Bach.
Her art and her struggles draw their sources, in equal parts, from North America, Europe and Africa. Similarly, for this evening, three artists from different sides of the Atlantic (France, Guinea-Bissau and Canada) come together around a creation, resulting from the exploration of the work of Nina Simone. We will focus on her songs during the civil rights movement in the United States.
Canadian singer Sharron McLeod joins the duo Allalaké for this exploration.
