Between plain and canyon, the Rives du Loup park, classified Natura 2000, covers 55 hectares in the communes of Cagnes-sur-Mer, La Colle-sur-Loup and Villeneuve-Loubet.
Les Rives du Loup, a park at the heart of the conurbation
The town of Cagnes-sur-Mer worked with the municipalities of Villeneuve Loubet and La Colle-sur-Loup to open the new Rives du Loup park. The Conseil départemental supported and orchestrated this project, which is being delivered in two phases, in 2013 and 2015, to create a new park where nature can be discovered, and where flora and fauna are now protected.
This new park in the city is the result of a long-term project. It's a new green lung planted with trees, with paths winding around the river, where you can relax in green surroundings, enjoy bucolic strolls and hikes in the heart of the Côte d'Azur coastline. It stretches for 2km from the Cagnais seafront to Les Ferrayones. Dogs and horses can use the park under certain conditions, while all-terrain wheelchairs and bicycles can use the special paths marked out along the way.
The Rives du Loup park has been classified as a Natura 2000 site for ‘birds’ and ‘habitats’. These directives protect endemic species in their preferred nesting territories: the European nightjar, the Ortolan sparrow, the Short-toed eagle, the Golden eagle and the Black grouse. So make the most of the spring to visit it while respecting its inhabitants, who will be in full mating season!
