Monument à la reine Victoria

Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom spent five consecutive winters in Nice, starting in 1895.

In 1901, a public subscription was launched to raise a monument to her. The Excelsior Hotel offered the land. Inaugurated in 1912, the statuary group, by the artist Louis Maubert, represents the queen and four young girls personifying Nice, Cannes, Grasse and Menton, cities where she stayed.
