The garden of the Musée Renoir covers almost 15,000 m² and features a plantation of olive trees that Auguste Renoir wanted to save when he bought the farm in 1907.
He also built the property that was to be his last home. Now transformed into a museum dedicated to the Impressionist master, the garden has been preserved and showcased, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the Impressionist atmosphere of this unique landscape. The olive trees, several hundred years old, play with the light in all seasons, offering one of the most beautiful panoramas of the town and its old quarter.
In 2019, to mark the centenary of Renoir's death, a vegetable garden was inaugurated, echoing the signature of a letter preserved in the Musée du Maître: "Renoir, cultivateur à Cagnes" ("Renoir, a farmer in Cagnes"). An agreement was signed with the LPO to turn the estate into a refuge for biodiversity. Finally, the open-air studio that Renoir used to paint the landscapes "on the subject" that were the pictorial revolution introduced by the Impressionists, has been reconstructed identically according to archive documents.
