La quadrature du cercle – Anne-Laure Wuillai

Anne-Laure Wuillai pushes the classification line to the point of absurdity, to better question our ways of apprehending, categorizing and consuming our environment. Sometimes in her series "Hyper-conditionnements", she fills a shopping cart with bags of sea water to the brim, sometimes in her series "Les artificiels", she creates furniture that sets flashy blue waves in motion, referring to the clichéd images we have of the color of water. She imagines snow globes where plastic waste found on the coast dances, or postcards filled with water, like memories carried away... but for how long? Through the grotesque, she thus leaves the militant gesture to produce a work, which playfully laughs at the boxes of the mind and invites us to dream again our relationship with water, the sky, the earth, this living body.
