Extending from the Monastery of Cimiez, this huge 9,550 m² garden offers a bucolic walk and a panoramic view of the sea and the whole city of Nice.
The Garden of the Monastery of Cimiez is one of the most magnificent in Nice. After a visit to the church and the museum situated inside the building, it offers a moment of relaxation in the open air to enjoy the mild afternoons of the Côte d'Azur. Inspired by Italian style gardens, it is the oldest of the whole Côte d'Azur. Originally, the monks used it as a vegetable garden. Moreover, it was here that the Franciscan Fathers invented the mesclun salad, mixing several seeds into it.
Since 1546, it has retained its original layout with its various planting areas, its central well, its many varieties of flowers and its magnificent rose garden which enchants visitors. Perched on the hill of Cimiez, the monastery garden also offers a unique view over the whole city and its famous neighbour, the hill of the Château de Nice!
