Clair est la Fontaine

Jean de La Fontaine searches the animal world for the masks of his characters. He humorously mocks our failings and the moral of his fables is often cruel. From the too docile dog to the too proud rabbit, from the too stingy ant to the too rebellious wolf, none of his protagonists finds favor in his eyes... The bestiary he summons allows us an unvarnished self-criticism and if some characters, like Perrette or a lumberjack slip into the middle of these tales, the better to highlight them. We are therefore going to embody these theater animals for the pleasure of men's laughter!

"How can we reconcile the great classical repertoire with the necessary modernity of the live performance? This is the challenge that I am pursuing by inviting the actors of the Troupe and the Apprentice Actors of the ERACM to take a walk with Jean de La Fontaine. Verses but laughter, text but images, all with a little disobedience. The crowing of the rooster and the complaints of the lamb, the growls of the wolf or the excuses of the donkey, will be our source of inspiration.
