Amours aveugles
Theatre
From 09 to 10 January 2025
From Thursday 9 to Friday 10 January 2025.
After presenting Lamenta at TNN in 2023, choreographers Rosalba Torres Guerrero and Koen Augustijnen return with Blind Loves.
In this new creation, they combine contemporary dance with the classic musical works of Monteverdi, for a powerful journey through the myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Tancrede and Clorinda.
Around the figures of two emblematic couples, they imagine an original and emotional reading of the works of Monteverdi, Orfeo and Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda. On stage, dancers, musicians and singers wonder about these impossible loves and ask us, in turn, this question: how do we end up killing our loved one?
"We want to focus more on the music of Monteverdi and some of his contemporaries. Blind Loves is mainly inspired by the works Orfeo [1607] and Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda [1624], but also leaves room for lesser-known works of other baroque composers like Landi, Rossi and Frescobaldi who also composed Orfeo The two loving couples in these works raise many questions that we wish to translate into a deep and emotional dance. We will retrace the different stages of an intense love. from astonishment to exuberant promises, from joy to tragedy."
