1* Michelin - Jan is a gastronomic restaurant, a nice little place with 24 seats in a fashionable area of the port of Nice.
Jan's cuisine reflects both the warm hospitality of South Africa and the quality of local produce from the markets of southern France.
Originally from Middelburg, a small town in the north of South Africa, Chef Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen opened Jan's restaurant in September 2013. His cuisine is a subtle blend of French gastronomy and the South African recipes he grew up with, such as melktert and biltong. The wine list offers a wide selection of French and South African wines, carefully selected by our sommeliers.
The restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star in 2016. Chef Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen is the first South African to receive a Michelin award.
