This war memorial is dedicated to the 2 world wars of the 20th century. During the 1939-1945 war, Saint-Laurent-du-Var was declared 40% disaster-stricken and was awarded the Croix de Guerre in recognition.
The town was liberated on 27 August 1944 by the Canadian army. In memory of the 1914-1918 war, soil from Verdun brought back by a Poilu at the time has been buried, as evidenced by a stone engraved in front of the stele.
